FACULTY

KEIKO ASHIDA studied pottery in Mashiko, Japan and received her BFA at the Musashino Art University in Tokyo. She has had numerous solo exhibits in Japan. Keiko teaches "Traditional Japanese Techniques" and "East Meets West". |

GEORGIA TENORE has been making pots and teaching for over 25 years. She has studied at Haystack and apprenticed and worked at Scargo Pottery, Dennis, MA, and was a porcelain consultant for Dansk. Georgia teaches "Basic Wheel" and "Fine Tuned Wheel." |

MARI OGIHARA received her MFA from Tyler Scool of Art in Philadelphia. She received her BFA from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, Michigan. She has taught ceramic classes both at Philadelphia and Michigan to adults and children. She is a ceramic sculptor. |
JON MCMILLAN received his MFA in Ceramics from Southern Illinois University in 2009. Prior to graduate school he worked as a studio potter in Harrisonburg, VA for seven years. He recently moved to Rye from Illinois to become the 2009-2010 Clay Art center Artist-in-Residence. |

JEANNE CARREAU was trained as an apprentice in Japan and received her MA from UC Berkeley in East Asian Studies. Her MA thesis compared the ceramics traditions of Bizen and Hagi. She has also published both translations and original articles on Japanese ceramics. She has taught children and adults in California, Hong Kong, and New York and has shown her work in Tokyo, Hong Kong, and New York. Having her hands in clay makes Jeanne's life happy. Jeanne teaches "Japanese Way with Clay". |

ANDREW COOMBS began his ceramic career making pinch pots in his father’s pottery studio. After an academic career that ranged from chemistry to philosophy and back to pottery, he earned his MFA in ceramics in 2008 from the School for American Crafts at the Rochester Institute of Technology. He is one of the resident artists at Clay Art Center for 2008 - 09. He enjoys making functional pottery, giving people the opportunity to interact and form personal connections with his work. |

DENIS LICUL is a Croatian ceramic artist and exhibits internationally. She received her BFA in Fine Arts from the University in Rijeka, Croatia. In addition to teaching our famous raku workshops in the fall and spring, she also teaches both adult and children’s classes at CAC and co-owns a yoga studio in Queens, NY where she is also a yoga instructor. |

HEATHER HOUSTON received a BFA in ceramics and jewelry from the University of Georgia. Following the receipt of her undergraduate studies, she went to Albuquerque, New Mexico for graduate school. In addition to teaching adult and children’s classes at CAC, she is now the kiln technician, studio manager, and teacher at the Silvermine Guild Art Center in New Canaan, CT. Inspired by primarily by Outsider and ancient artwork, she uses the figure to express the joy, sorrow, horror, and the humor of human experience. Heather teaches "Beginners and Beyond." |
