Cut and Paste: A Workshop with Deborah Schwartzkopf

Sat – Sun, April 10-11, 10am – 5pm

Fee:  $190 members; $200 non-members

This hands-on workshop will focus on altering techniques that can be applied to wheel thrown or slab built forms.  We will work with simple forms and change their shape by removing and adding clay pieces.  We will also work with slabs, draping them over molds and using basic patterns for a starting place in shaping them. All of these techniques will lead to changing the stance, volume and lines of the pot, and therefore its expression.  Although beginners are welcome, some throwing or hand building experience would be helpful.

Deborah Schwartzkopf Currently lives in Seattle, WA where she is an artist in residence at Pottery Northwest. She has just returned after traveling for school, residencies, and jobs.  She received her BA at the University of Alaska 1999 and MFA from Penn State in 2003.   She also participated in residencies at San Bao Ceramic Art Instutute- China, the Archie Bray Foundation- Montana, and the Ceramics Workshop- Berlin.
