Port Chester Day: Celebrating our Heritage

Due to rain the date has been changed to
Sunday, September 13, 11:30am - 4:30pm

New this year! The Clay Art Center invites families and people of all ages to participate in a hands-on clay activity from 11:30am-4:30pm. Community Arts Fellow Shanna Fleigel will demonstrate throwing on the wheel and participants will have the opportunity to get messy, learning the basic techniques of wheel throwing. Participants will use their thrown parts to create a collaborative creature sculpture.  Also during this time, participants can explore a variety of handbuilding techniques by sculpting, pressing and drawing on clay tiles.  These tiles will illustrate the theme “celebrating our Heritage” by showing ideas of community, family, culture, and self expression.
