CLAY ART CENTER STAFF

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
 
Reena Kashyap received her BA from Bombay University and apprenticed at the Filmeridis clay studio in Manama, Bahrain. She studied with Judy Weber and has spent several summers at Penland School of Crafts. She has been a Studio Potter for almost 20 years. Her work was exhibited in "Endless Variations: Shino Review" at the Baltimore Clayworks in March 2005 and her cups have been featured in the Lark Book, "500 Cups".

Reena was awarded the Community service award in 2004 by the Westchester Arts Council for her contribution to the community. Her passion for clay, people and community service brought her in 1997 to her current position. She also serves on the ARTS Westchester Board of Directors.

PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Leigh Taylor Mickelson has an MFA from the Rochester Institute of Technology's School of American Crafts and a BA from Hamilton College. From 1997-2006 Leigh was the Exhibitions Director at Baltimore Clayworks.  In September of 2006 she moved to Ossining, NY with her filmmaker husband and two daughters and joined the Clay Art Center staff.   She exhibits her abstract organic sculpture across the US and was showcased in an article in the March 2005 issue of Ceramics Monthly.  Most recently, her work was showcased at SOFA Chicago 2008 with Sherrie Gallerie, Columbus, OH.

PROGRAMS COORDINATOR
 
Susan Libby comes to Clay Art Center after spending 6 years in gallery management.  A board member of the CT Ceramics Study Circle (www.ctceramicscircle.org), she is excited about immersing herself in the contemporary ceramics taught, created and exhibited at CAC.  Susan and her husband own Thomas K Libby in South Norwalk, CT, an antique and vintage ceramics specialty gallery and ceramics restoration studio.

DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

Doug Breitbart has an BFA from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia. He has worked as the manager of Petrillo Stone Shop and has been a CAC artist for several years. He is a potter and sculptor and enjoys firing a wood kiln.

COMMUNITY ARTS COORDINATOR
 

Ariel Plantz received a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art with a concentration in ceramics. Ariel recently relocated from Baltimore where she had the opportunity to integrate the ceramic arts into the public school curriculum, and to form lasting partnerships within underserved communities throughout Baltimore. Her large scale ceramic sculpture often explores the unique tension between a disguise and its subject.
