COMMUNITY ARTS DIRECTOR
After moving from rural Kansas to Baltimore Maryland Ariel Plantz graduated with a BFA from Maryland Institute College of Art with a concentration in ceramics. From there Plantz continued to explore her large scale ceramic work while teaching clay classes in underserved communities throughout Baltimore with Baltimore Clayworks. The juxtaposition of a chaotic city life full of constant stress, noise and activity with a quiiet midwestern upbringing has informed most of her ceramic work. The tension between two objects, between two ideas or between two colors is where she finds inspiration to create her sculptural work. Plantz now lives in Brooklyn and works as the Community Arts Director at Clay Art Center while continuing to teach, create and learn.
