Explore the expressive possibilities of clay while focusing on the figure!  Students will work from a live model to create their own interpretation of the figure. We will create a clay armature from extruded forms, and then use pinched forms, solid construction, and carving to complete a half-sized standing figure. Sculptural form, proportions of the body, cold joining methods, surface treatments, and methods of developing content will be discussed. Students will also be introduced to several different finishing techniques including slips, oxides, and glazes.
