PotPOURri - POTS THAT POUR

Clay Art Center is pleased to present potPOURri: Pots that POUR, a national invitational exhibition featuring 83 pouring pots by 83 clay artists. The exhibit, which will be displayed in both the Choy Gallery and the Henry’s Project gallery, will run from February 2 - 23, 2008 with an opening reception on Saturday, February 2, from 6-8pm. Admission is free. Additionally, UK potter Phil Rogers will be in town present a demonstration workshop entitled “From Start to Finish” on Saturday and Sunday, February 2nd and 3rd from 10am – 5pm. He will also present an image lecture on Friday, February 1st at 7pm, which is open to the public. To register for both events, visit www.clayartcenter.org or call 914-937-2047.
The word potpourri, which happens to contain the words “pot” and “pour,” is defined as “a mixture of miscellaneous things.” This exhibition will definitely be a mixture, but of pouring vessels. Pitchers, ewers, gravy boats, cruets, creamers, and more, as well as non-functional works about pouring, will pack the galleries, revealing the breadth of technique, style and function that the field of ceramics has to offer. potPOURri will make us think about our daily rituals, encouraging us to use handmade pots for our pouring practices in the kitchen as well as at the table.
