Bring your troop to fulfill their badge requirements at a real working pottery studio.
We have a community of working ceramic artists and all the resources to create, learn, and finish your work. We'll begin with a fascinating discussion of clay--how it was formed and its unique characteristics and historical uses.
Scouts will make a project using pinch, slab, and coil building techniques, which will be fired and glazed. Throwing on the potters’ wheel will be demonstrated and discussed with the group. Troops will be given a tour of our facilities including working artist studios, classrooms and our renowned Gallery.
Please note that this program was designed to meet past Girl Scout curriculum for receiving a clay badge. We’d be happy to review and discuss requirements for your troop in advance of the class! Badges are not included in the workshop.
Capacity: 8 to 15 scouts
Tuition: $25 per scout (minimum 8 scouts. $100 deposit due at time of registration).
Project Notes: Firing fees are included in the tuition fee. Projects will be ready for pickup approximately 3 weeks after the workshop date.
Food and beverages: Food and drinks are not permitted during this workshop.
