Italy with Jeff Shapiro

Italy with Jeff Shapiro

300.00

The trip starts in Florence for 2 nights. We then go by taxi or private vans to La Meridiana, the ceramic facility owned and run by my good friend Pietro Maddalena. Please look at the La Meridiana web site: http://www.lameridiana.fi.it
We will stay in villa rooms near La Meridiana. The last 3 nights at La Meridiana, we will stay in a charming hotel in Old Certaldo. Old Certaldo is a 13th century hill top town. It is typical of architecture from that period. After working in the studio and firing the gas kiln, we will have discussions about the final results. Then we will move to the Hotel in Old Certaldo. During the cooling of the kiln, we will have excursions to San Gimignano, Volterra, and Siena. Private cars will then take us from the hotel to Viceno near Orvieto where we will first visit the studio and home of my dear friend Marino Moretti who lives and works in a 12th century enclave. An experience not to be missed. And finally, we go on to our last destination of Orvieto for 3 nights.

“I hope you will consider this opportunity to learn about Italian culture as well as  create work in the beautiful setting of La Meridiana near Certaldo, Tuscany.  It is a great chance to visit, or revisit Italy in an intimate way. The work portion of the program will be customized to fit any level of experience. There will be opportunities on your own for writing, drawing or photography.” -Jeff Shapiro
