  • Costs:

    • Payment is due to secure your space before the month begins.

    • Firing fees, clay, and materials are not included at the base cost of $190 per month.

    • Please purchase Student Credit to fill your firing and materials log for clay, tools, and firing fees.

  • Studio:

    • Studio time is by appointment only.

    • Artists will have access to cone 10 glazes and studio firings.

    • There will be limited access to cone 6 firings.

    • You will have a shelf in the Independent Study studio along with access to work in-progress shelving.

  • Scheduling: Independent Study artists must reserve time(s) to come into the studio.

  • Applying:
    The Independent Study program is waitlisted.

    • Interested applicants must have taken at least 3 Clay Art Center classes previously (or equivalent experience) to be eligible for Independent Study, be approved by the Program Management team, and must be willing to sign a detailed agreement. Independent Study is a monthly commitment. If interested please email mail@clayartcenter.org with a summary on your clay experience and two photos of your work.

Registered as an Independent Study Artist? Book an appointment to work in the studio!

  • You may schedule multiple 1 hour blocks any day between 9AM-9PM. As usual, if a particular time is full, it will not appear on the calendar. Book up to 5 hours a day.

  • Use our online scheduler on this page to select your day and time.

  • Please do not come in outside of these time slots. IS artists without an appointment will be refused access if they drop by onsite

  • Independent Study Artists receive a main classroom access code to enter the building when there is no staff or classes scheduled.
