Teaching Artists (Contract):
Clay Art Center is seeking ceramic teaching artists to join our roster of teaching artists for offsite youth programs. This is a contract position teaching 1 or more afterschool classes which typically run from 3-4pm (not including travel or prep time). No teaching experience required; training will be provided. Must have familiarity with ceramics and a desire to engage youth through clay. We do not need teachers at the moment, but if you send in your materials, we will reach out when we have available teaching opportunities. More information and to apply.

Position: Summer Studio Assistant
Hours: Part-time Temporary, 15 hours/week
Duration: June – August 31, 2026
Salary: $21/hour

This is an onsite position.

Clay Art Center is hiring a part-time Summer Studio Assistant to provide support in running the facilities and day-to-day operations of the studio. The Studio Assistant reports to the Studio Manager and provides support to the Studio Manager and Studio Technician for kiln loading and unloading, studio and facility maintenance, managing supplies, and other projects needed for the upkeep of the studio and facilities.

Most of the responsibilities below can be trained on-site. If you are comfortable with most of the tasks below, please apply.

Responsibilities:

-Load and unload kilns.
-Assist with clay reclaim process for classrooms and community arts programs.
-Assist with unloading clay, material, and supply deliveries.
-Glaze and package work for one-time classes and parties as needed.
-Help maintain clean and orderly classrooms and artist spaces.
-Help maintain a dust free work environment, use proper safety equipment and clean up.
-Assist with general studio and facility maintenance and repairs.
-Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

-Experience in ceramics.
-Knowledge of kiln loading and firing a plus.
-Experience with basic construction a plus.
-Good communication skills.
-Ability to lift 50 lbs.
-Ability to climb ladders.
-Bending at the waist, sitting, kneeling, climbing, walking, crouching as the job may require.
-Weekly work schedule to be coordinated with Studio Manager. This position requires someone who can work onsite at Clay Art Center. Opportunity to take a free ceramics class or access Independent Study.
