Our private lessons provide a concentrated learning environment and close attention to personal growth and development for individuals or small groups.
About
Private lessons are a minimum of 2 hours per session (1-4 students).
Lessons may be scheduled for less than 2 hours at the discretion of the teacher and Clay Art Center depending on the topic and number of students. Reach out to mail@clayartcenter.org to discuss
It may take up to 10 days to schedule a private lesson because our instructor and studio availability is constantly changing. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
Cancellations: Student must notify Clay Art Center and the instructor 24 hours in advance of the lesson date to cancel a lesson, or they will be charged for that lesson.
Students are hands-on with clay to create their own project. We fire to cone 6 and cone 10 glaze temperatures.
Clay and firing fees are calculated separately from tuition:
New students or one-time lessons: clay and firing fees are included with your first lesson
Repeat lesson students: buy clay from us and pay for each piece they want to fire.
Two pieces are included in the tuition in our one-time lessons.
Our Instructors
We have wonderful onsite and virtual instructors available to teach your private lesson. View their profiles!
How to Register
Email mail@clayartcenter.org or call the front desk at (914) 937-2047 x223 to inquire about details, project, and availability.
We will reach out to our private lesson instructors and check studio availability before we ask you to register online. Once we confirm that a teacher is available, we will send you a link to confirm by registering online for the lesson.
*It may take up to two weeks to schedule a private lesson because our instructor and studio availability are constantly changing.
After you register online, we will send you a welcome email with details on location and how to prepare several days before the date of the lesson.
Pickup of work is usually 3-4 weeks after the lesson. We will email you when your work is ready.
NOTE: While we make every effort to handle student work with the utmost care, we cannot guarantee perfect results because of the fragile and unpredictable nature of clay and the firing process. Works might crack or break during the firing or glazing process, and glazes can have unpredictable results. Our classes are geared towards a creative “making” experience rather than an end product.
