Would you love to learn a new surface design technique? Do you enjoy sketching and want to get your illustrations onto your clay pieces? If you said yes, this is the class for you!

During this Illustrated Surface class, Clay Art Center resident artist Carley Holzem will take you through the steps to successfully utilize underglazes to decorate your pots with your illustrations. In the first class students will make an illustrated wall hanging and design their own clay frame.

During the second class Carley will show how she gets illustrations onto curved surfaces by demonstrating illustration on large vases. If the time allows students may illustrate their curved leather hard pieces.

• Clay for the first class is included

• Students may choose to bring a leather hard piece (wheel thrown, handbuilt or slabs) to the second class to illustrate.

• Firing Fees are not included.

• Students should bring a simple printed image or original sketch
  

Prerequisite: Some clay experience.
Classroom location: Annex Classroom
