Ornamented Surface with Lindsay Scypta

Ornamented Surface with Lindsay will explore playful and experimental approaches to ceramic surface. Students will work with a variety of techniques including bisque stamps, laser-cut tools, sprig molds, and slip trailing.

The day will begin with an instructor demonstration on the wheel, followed by hands-on tool making focused on curiosity, experimentation, and discovery.

Students will create a range of stamps and sprig molds, students will then test and combine surface techniques using the instructor’s collection of tools, with additional tools available to try.

Emphasis will be placed on exploration, pattern, and the expressive potential of surface.

Required:

• Wet Leather hard pieces (2 - 3)

• Trinkets to impress into clay (buttons, Jewelry, small toys etc.)

• Studio tools

• Notebook
  
  Clay and Firing are not included.

Artist Bio;

Lindsay Scypta holds a BFA in Art & Design from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University and a MFA from The Ohio State University. She was an Artist-in-Resident at Clay Art Center in Port Chester, NY. Currently making and teaching at a local college in Ohio. Lindsay’s accolades include solo shows at Morean Center for Clay and Hudson Gallery, Her work was published in New Age of Ceramics and 500 Vases.
