[Waitlist] Cone 6 Majolica
Instructor: Avery Wells
Saturday May 4th
2pm - 6pm
Main Classroom (Cone 6)
Traditionally, majolica refers to a low-fire glaze technique used to create colorful illustrative surfaces on terracotta clay. However, in this class, we will be updating majolica for the 21st century! Using Cone 6 clay, glaze, and underglaze, students will learn how to apply traditional techniques to contemporary materials and create a practice that is applicable in any community studio. We will discuss ways to generate inspiration for decorative surfaces, as well as brushwork and layering techniques. Bisqued slabs will be provided to students for skill-building practice during class.
