Explore the versatility of colored slip as a tool for creating dynamic ceramic surfaces. Students will learn and experiment with colored slip techniques including, Mishima, inlay, newsprint transfers, stencils and resists, carving, layering, and texture.
Julie will demo how to use a die cut machine to make stencils along with hand cutting stencils , as well as techniques for stretching clay to enhance surface effects. Through demonstrations and hands-on experimentation, students will combine these processes to develop layered, graphic, and tactile surfaces in their own work.
Skill: Intermediate
Prerequisite: A few beginner wheel classes or equivalent ceramic skills.
