Molly Johnson Woodfired Jar
Woodfired Jar / Woodfired Porcelain / 7.5 × 76.5 × 6.5 in. / $260
Artist Statement
Woodfired ware comes from community effort. The process of labor put into firing and the natural state of the environment is what influences the outcome. Heat, flame, melted ash pepper the surface creating visual effects. I am influenced by nature, its cyclical rhythms, its wonder. The glaze, clay and surface marks are all selected to highlight on the surface what occurs naturally in a woodkiln. The atmosphere in the kiln paints the unglazed porcelain.
