Artist Statement
My art has been a part of me my whole life, ever since I could hold a pencil I have been drawing. As I grew, I was able to discover and experiment with other mediums and loved every one of them from drawing to ceramics. As a young timid person, I often used my artwork as somewhat of a conversation starter. Whatever I was working on, people seemed to be drawn to it and asked about techniques I used. People would often ask how I was able to see something and recreate it on canvas in my own style. I explained that I have been learning and improving my artwork for several years.
In my artwork I try to capture the light, colors, and beauty of what I see. I find artistic inspiration in things that fascinate me from delicate flowers to intricate architectural accents. Creating ornate work provides a beautiful and unique challenge to my artwork. I create wheel-thrown pottery as a type of blank canvas and decorate according to ideas I have for that specific piece.
