Artist Statement

A mobile, typically made to stimulate the minds of the very young, has been made here of broken pieces of a porcelain lace bowl. It invites the viewer to remember that may be old (lace) or no longer functional (bowl) can be reimagined, new and pleasing again. The pieces move slowly in time, creating shadows and calming the mind as it shifts through space.

Artist Bio

Claire’s clay journey began at Clay Art Center in the summer of 2011 when she took her first pottery class. Over time, she developed her skills working in porcelain, focusing on creating functional art using wheel throwing and altering techniques. She started creating pieces for her own holiday tables, then for family and friends and now offers her pieces for sale. Claire has been a Clay Art Center Artist since 2018.
