Artist Statement

Fascinated by all that clay can do and be, I work with porcelain and stoneware, on the wheel or by hand, or both, and experiment with gas, wood and raku firings. I find delight in delicate symmetrical functional pieces as well as in rough asymmetrical non- functional work. Fish represent my life-long love of swimming in oceans, seas and bays, sadly prohibited now due to illness. Finally, I am intrigued and challenged by how many fish I can fry!

Artist Bio

I taught school for 25 years, from adults to two year olds, in Borneo, the south Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn and finally in Stanford, CT. My fascination with clay began with classes taken at Greenwich House in NYC but was interrupted by marriage and the raising of and caring for two daughters, numerous cats and a dog. After retiring from teaching I began classes at CAC and am currently a resident artist and an occasional exhibitor. I live in Old Greenwich, CT and spend my summers in South Dartmouth, MA where my garden is my private sanctuary and Buzzard’s Bay is my watery home.
