Artist Statement

Timeless Quiet Beauty. The astonishing result of the clay, textures, glazes, spaces, shadows, and lights is the very essence of my aesthetic sense of ceramic art. "Spring Night" highlights these qualities. I hope “Spring Night” will bring a timeless quiet beauty mood to my audiences.

Artist Bio

Sally Ng has been a ceramic artist for over 20 years. She makes functional pots and sculptural vessels, and porcelain is her choice of clay. She has a home studio in Greenwich, CT and a studio in the Clay Art Center, Port Chester, NY.  She has many years of teaching experience about clay. She taught all ages from toddlers to seniors at the Hergenhan Center in Armonk, NY.  Sally inspires her students by making clay fun to learn by simple clay techniques and skills to create pots that are meaningful to each student. Sally is the youngest child in a large family, she observed the activities in her busy household, but her eyes were always drawn to texture, shapes, patterns, light and colors. She has always loved the natural aspects of things - the pattern of rocks, irregularly placed footprints on sand, or the waves of field grass in the wind.  It fascinates her how changing one element can make a whole picture completely different, with a totally different emphasis, and with different relationships to other elements in its environment. Her ceramic works reflect these elements and moods using clay, textures, glaze colors, spaces, and lights.
