Saturday, August, 22 - Firing Day: 9am - 3pm
During the first 1 hour demo lesson students will learn what pieces are successful in the Horsehair firing along with burnishing techniques and advice for constructing their pieces.
During the firing date students will bring their finished bisque pieces, already burnished and fire them. The pieces are pulled from the kiln while hot and horsehair is quickly applied to the pot one hair at a time leaving distinctive and unpredictable black lines with smoke pattern where it burns.

This class is intended for students already in a class or with alternative studio access - open studios are not included.
8 students maximum. Wheel Throwers and Handbuilders welcome.
Due to the nature of the firing process, student’s work will not be water tight (not functional or food-safe).
Clay and tools are not included with tuition. Firing fees are included.
Students are recommended to use white stoneware for this firing (instead of raku clay).
Skill Level: Intermediate
Prerequisite: A few CAC classes or equivalent ceramic skills
