Artist Statement

My work explores the relationship between humans and nature, specifically how we interact with the natural world in our daily lives. It was inspired by an enlightening experience in a friends garden while on vacation, where I was told to "grab whatever I wanted to eat". This moment shifted my perspective on food, nature and our connection to both. Through functional dinnerware, I creat pieces that challenge the conventional aesthetics of a dinnerware set, inviting viewers to reconsider their relationship with sources of their food. By crafting champagne foxglove flutes, lily pad plates and flowers bowls, I aim to invoke the experience of harvesting food directly from a garden- a practice that's feels increasingly distant in a world where food is often reduced to plastic-wrapped commodities.
