Artist Statement

The sculptural form is mounted or suspended to cast a shadow that moves and changes depending on the angle of the light and time of day. A steel wire frame coated with many layers of porcelain slip is shaped to encompass space. Over time in the kiln at 2223 F the final altered form is set.

At first the metal is strong and the porcelain is weak then after firing a reversal occurs when the porcelain solidifies and the metal melts and oozes. My training as an architect influences my choice of each underlying structural frame.
