Artist Statement
Time can be measured in various ways. My piece entitled “Trimesters” shows how time can be broken down into segments of weeks to measure how long a typical human pregnancy lasts. The trio of vases depicts the outward appearance of the human body as it grows and expands to adjust for the birth of a new life.
Artist Bio
Art has been central to my life for as long as I can remember. I taught art at the elementary level and shared the wonder and joy students felt when exploring the many facets of the creative process. I discovered clay later in my career. It was the perfect material to merge my love of painting with tactile material. My work is both colorful and bold. Whether functional, sculptural, hand-built, or wheel-thrown, porcelain, underglazes, and colored clays are my materials of choice. I strive to create work that is joyous and aesthetically pleasing.
