Artist Statement

One of the joys of living where I do is observing the passing change of the seasons as reflected in the transformation of foliage color over the year. In this platter I attempt to capture that color shift. This piece is my approximation of a pulsar wind nebula which has been noted by Mayan , Arab and Japanese stargazers worldwide as a super nova in the year 1054 and over the years, by future astronomers. Reflecting our world's place in the vastness of space. The clock aspect formalizes the concept of space/time.

Artist Bio

Robin Henschel grew up in a suburb of Chicago near a pottery studio which drew her in as a high school student. She received her BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design and started the Feet of Clay Pottery upon graduation with five other potters. It is still thriving but she eventually moved on to the Clay Art Center in Port Chester NY where she has her studio space and teaches. She served on the Board for 14 years. Her work focuses on animals and nature motifs.
