Artist Statement

Comfort and familiarity are things that keep me grounded in a hostile world, and I hope to give that stability to others through my work. I make a mix of functional and sculptural ceramics, focusing on character and illustration. I create things that are expressive and soft, meant to accompany us through life. I have found that clay is the best medium for me to express this. It can be changed and molded into exactly what I have in mind. Over the years, I have developed a cast of characters that I use in my work. Inspired heavily by the media I consumed in my youth, these characters help me convey memories and past joy that help me in my present. I want people to develop relationships with my work through use and daily ritual. Nothing would make me happier If I could bring levity to someone's otherwise chaotic life.
